The Japan Trademark Association (JTA) was established on November 28, 1988 as an independent association.
As of February 2026, JTA has 901 members consisting of 4 advisors, 458 individual members, 16 special members (academic experts) as well as 274 corporate members and 149 other legal entity members. Corporations, attorneys and patent attorneys, and professors, who share the common interest in trademarks and the related field, collaboratively engage in various activities such as research and studies, policy advocacy, information exchange, mutual development of the members. Mutual communication among the members is also encouraged at JTA.
